This strategic move aligns with NorthStar’s ambitious expansion plan, which recently encompassed strengthening its UK standing by obtaining well-known platforms such as MrFixitTips and SportsMole.co.uk. AlAireLibre.cl, recognized for its extensive reporting on Chilean athletics, particularly soccer, was formerly held by Grupo Cooperativa.
This acquisition comes on the heels of NorthStar’s other calculated investments within the Latin American market. These include the April 2023 procurement of Lakersbrasil.com and collaborations with several leading Brazilian football fan websites. Among these partnerships are NotciasDoMengao.com.br (dedicated to Flamengo), PortalDoSaoPaulino.com.br (covering São Paulo), and PortalDoPalmeirense.com.br (focused on Palmeiras).
Julian Josett, who co-established NorthStar Network, conveyed his excitement regarding the acquisition. The Brazilian sports wagering sector is primed for substantial expansion as it shifts towards a regulated environment. Following President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s approval of an interim measure in July to initiate the industry, accompanied by further adjustments in the ensuing months, the groundwork is laid for a surge. This action has also garnered support from the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA), bolstering the credibility of this burgeoning field.
