Australia Cracks Down on Illegal Online Gambling Sites

The Australian media watchdog, ACMA, is taking a hard line against unlawful internet gambling. They are pursuing websites advertising these dubious offshore gaming platforms, including those polished review portals often serving as mere facades for illicit enterprises.

This action is significant because, for the first time, the ACMA is directing Australian internet service providers to restrict access to these domains. They have already released a roster of websites slated for blocking, encompassing well-known names like Aussie Casino Hex and Australia OK Casinos.

Fiona Cameron of the ACMA stressed that this initiative aims to safeguard Australians, particularly those susceptible to gambling-related issues. These illicit sites frequently exploit individuals, declining to disburse winnings and employing forceful strategies to perpetuate their gambling habits.

The ACMA’s authority to oversee online gambling was broadened in 2017, and they have been taking steps to dismantle illegal operations ever since.

These endeavors have severely hampered illicit wagering activities within Australia. Numerous online platforms have been deactivated, and entry to the most egregious violators has been virtually severed completely.
