Richard Brown Appointed as New CEO of Glitnor Group

Glitnor Group has declared the selection of Richard Brown, the head of Gaming Innovation Group (GiG), as its new leader.

Brown will formally assume his position in January 2024, succeeding David Flynn, who stepped down last December. Jorgen Nordlund, a co-founder, has been serving as the temporary head.

As the chief executive, Brown will guide Glitnor in continuing to carry out its expansion strategies. This involves broadening its online betting operations and game creation studios, encompassing markets in Europe, North America, and Latin America.

Brown has been associated with GiG for seven and a half years, most of which he served as the head, a position he held since November 2019. Before that, he held the positions of Chief Operating Officer, Chief Digital Officer, and Managing Director at GiG Media.

Brown’s earlier professional journey included various roles at Highlight Media Group, as well as periods at Web Guide Partner and THG Sports.

“I am humbled to be chosen as the CEO of Glitnor Group,” stated Brown. “The team has established a strong standing in the industry. I eagerly anticipate collaborating with them to grasp the numerous opportunities ahead of the company.

“The group’s long-term objectives are impressive and are supported by founders with a proven history of success.”

It is truly thrilling to be a part of reaching these objectives for the organization, team members, and investors.

Nordlund, the co-founder, stated: “I am convinced that Glitnor has secured one of the top executives in the industry with the appointment of Richard. I anticipate his positive influence on our operations as we strive to enhance our brand and enter additional markets in the future.

“Considering his successful experience at GiG and his extensive expertise in the gaming sector, I am certain that Richard possesses all the essential abilities to assist Glitnor in achieving new milestones.

“I believe I speak for everyone when I say we are eager to collaborate with him as we embark on our next phase of expansion.”

“Optimal time” to depart GiG
Brown’s appointment was confirmed following his announcement that he would be leaving GiG at the end of 2023.

During his tenure as CEO, the group continued to expand into new territories, completed significant acquisitions, sold its B2C assets to Betsson, and achieved record revenues in the first quarter of 2023.

His departure follows a strategic review that may result in GiG being divided into two separate business entities. The affiliate division, GiG Media, led by Chief Marketing Officer Jonas Warrer, will continue to operate under its current leadership, indicating that the platform and sports betting business is seeking a new CEO.

Reflecting on his time at GiG, Brown stated that while he enjoyed working for the group, the “time was right” to take on new challenges.

Its been an absolute privilege to have spent eight incredible years at GiG, the past four as CEO,” Brown stated. “However, the time has come for me to embrace new ventures, and I believe this will be one of the most thrilling entities in the iGaming industry.

“I’m truly enthusiastic to embark on this new journey in the upcoming year.”
